Frequently Asked Questions

Can I visit the museum?

At the moment we are a private museum so not open to the public.

We shared photos and videos across our social media platforms of our specimens so you can follow and see them there.

You can Click Here to see all of our specimens including HD images, facts, measurements and where the specimen was found.

We may open our doors at some point but for now it’s all online.

Where do you get your specimens from?

We get most of our specimens from donations, very kind zoos, private owners, taxidermists and members of the public who contact us with items to see if we would like to take them on.

Lots of them have been on displays in museums and studios so they often need a bit of repair work and a clean before they are displayed in our museum.

You can read our specimen policy here

Do you accept donations?

Yes we do accept money donations!

Anyone who would like to donated to That Little Museum is more than welcome to HERE and we greatly appreciate anything you can give as it goes to the running of the museum including cleaning specimens, touching up paintwork etc, buying display stands and cabinets, signage and more.

Yes you can most definitely!

If you have something you’d like to donate please click Here and that will take you to our specimens donation page.

We have to take some information from you before we agree to take on the specimen so please feel free to get in contact with us.

Do you sell specimens?

Unfortunately not as we have worked so hard on our collection and to us it’s priceless to us along with when companies donated specimens to us it’s done under an agreement that there is no profitable again from them item meaning selling them on.

We may in the future make our own range of specimens what can be sold.

Where are you located?

We are located in the Essex countryside in the United Kingdom.

Do your specimens smell?

Like everything it has its own individual smell.

Items like furs and taxidermy that are old can have a fusty smell to them but it soon goes after a while.

All of our specimens are preserved so that helps with the smell but we do have one what is rather smelly and that is our Asian Forrest Scorpion!

He smells like sweaty socks what have been left in a gym bag for a long time.

The sea cabinet can smell a bit as you can smell the shells and it smells like fish.

Our most smelly specimen has to be the Rattlesnake poo as that is probable the worst smell to be smelt.

The wet specimens can smell abit when you take the lids off their jars but they mostly smell of the preserving fluids.

Can I donate a passed away pet to you for spcimens?

We are unable to take on any passed away pets. We have many animals like Budgies, Hamsters, Rabbits etc in our collection that have been tunred into taxidermy or wet specimen.

If you have an exotic animal what has passed away then please feel free to Contact us!

Can you taxidermy my passed away pet?

We are collectors of specimens of nature, at the moment we are not fully trained in the world of taxidermy but it may be someting we offer in the future.

Stay tuned to our website and social media platforms for news on that.
