Specimen Policy

Here at That Little Museum we pride ourselves on animal welfare and all of our specimens what involve animals have been donated to us after they have passed away due to natural courses. 

We would never entertain an animal being put to sleep just to be on display in our cabinets and same goes for when it comes to their claws and fur.

The animals we have in our taxidermy collection have came from zoos where the animal has passed away naturally and has been donated to taxidermists or to That Little Museum and then has gone though the process of skinning, tanning, mounted and then stuffed to make beautiful taxidermy. 

All of our specimens abide to the CITES rules and regulations of endangered species.

Below explains where our specimens have came from.

The Taxidermy we have in our collection has been donated from taxidermists, other museums and private collectors along with some what have been ethically sourced. 

These animals have passed away naturally and been given away to be turned into taxidermy instead of just being cremated it can be enjoyed for a lifetime along with being studied for educational purposes.

The Wet Specimens we have in our collection have been donated to us from zoo and recue centres up and down the country.

Often zoo's donate animals what have passed away to museums and taxidermists as it saves them the money on having to have the animal cremated.

Our Fur Collection has came from zoos where the animal has moulted and the fur has fallen out or if the animal has been shaven during medical cheeks and collected to be donated to That Little Museum and kept in small vials.

 Some has came from taxidermists where the offcuts have been saved and given to us.

Our Animal Parts collection have came from many different places including zoo's where the animal has lost a nail or tooth and has been sent to us, the snakes sheds have cam from zoos along with quills and spikes.

Our Feathers have been given to us by private collectors, zoos and aquariums, they have mostly been collected during moulting season.
