Bird Feathers

Here at That Little Museum we have a wide rage of bird feathers from around the world including a Red- Legged Sameera to the Laughing Kookaburra and the jewel in the crown our Gentoo feathers.

These beautiful feathers have been donated to us from private collectors, zoos and just found in the wild.

Red-legged Seriema Feathers

Some of our most loved feathers in our collection are these Red-legged Seriema ones.

The Red-legged Seriema is native to South America and are grey, white, brown and black in colour. 

They have red legs and that's how they got their name.

Across the rest of the body they have finely barred plumage which is colored brown. Around the neck, breast and underside these are rather loose. At the base of the bill is a crest of feathers which are permanently raised.


Laughing Kookaburra Wing And Tail Feathers

The absolutely adorable Laughing Kookaburra!

We have a few of these feathers in our collection and as you can see in this image, we have a wing and a tail feather. 

The feather with the orange / brown markings on are from their wings and the grey and white are from their tail.

These birds live up to their name as they often can be heard making a laughing sound when calling to other birds.

These birds are native to eastern mainland Australia.


Gentoo Penguin Feathers 

Look how pretty these Gentoo Penguin feathers are.

These cute little birds are black and white in colour with a band of white feathers extending across the top of the head from just above each eye. Other distinguishing features include a black throat, a brush tail that is large in comparison with other penguin species, and a bill that is mostly deep orange or red. 

Gentoo Penguins are a species of concern so they are defiantly a rare specimen.


Male Pheasant Feathers

These stunning feathers are from a male Pheasant!

With their beautiful colours these are some of the most beautiful feathers we have in our collection. 

From purple markings, to green, brown to yellow these birds are absolutely mesmerizing.


Rainbow Lorikeet Feathers 

These are some Rainbow Lorikeet feathers. These are a small amount of feathers and we hope to extend our collection of these stunning feathers.

As you can see they are a beautiful red, green, yellow and grey colours.

These birds are absolutely stunning with heir multiple colours and cheeky personality. 

Rainbow lories are native to eastern Indonesia and Australia. They inhabit a vast range of woodlands and rainforest and well-treed of the urban areas. 


Palm-Nut Vulture Feathers

The king of the skies!

The Palm-Nut Vulture come from most of the coastal areas of the African continent from The Gambia to Kenya and as far South as South Africa.

Its plumage is all white except for black areas in its wings. It has a red patch around the eye. The immature, which takes 5 years to mature, is brown with a yellow eye patch. 


Verreaux Eagle Owl Feathers

The Verreaux's eagle-owl is mostly grey in color and is distinguishable from other large owls by its bright pink eyelids, a feature shared with no other owl species in the world. 

At That Little Museum we feel very lucky to have these feathers in our collection as these are a rare find and where very kindly donated to us by a UK zoo.


Bateleur Eagle Feathers

These are defiantly one of the most beautiful of the Eagle birds!

The Bateleur Eagle is mostly black in colour with a chestnut colour on the mantle as well as also on the rump and tail. Adults also have grey patches about the leading edges of the wings (extending to the secondaries in females) with bright red on their cere and their feet.


White- Backed Vulture Feathers

The white-backed vulture is a typical medium-sized vulture. Its head and neck only has a sparse covering of fluffy down-like feathers with ends in a large white neck ruff. It has very broad wings yet short tail feathers. 



Buzzard Feather

Buzzard's are native to most of Europe and extends its breeding range across much of the Palearctic as far as north western China (Tian Shan), far western Siberia and north western Mongolia.

These pretty birds are mostly brown in colour with bits of white and blond on their fronts.

One side of the feather is dark brown while the other has a brown upper part with dark bars. The base of the feather is cream. Secondary feathers are shorter and rounder.


African Grey Parrot Feathers

African Grey Parrots are some of the most cheeky birds as you often see videos online of them swearing at members of the public at zoos.

These birds are grey in colour with a black and red tail feathers. They are white around their eyes and have a black beak.

A circular patch is present around the eye and extending up to their beak which is bare of feathers and shows off the white skin.


Blue And Gold McCaw Feathers 

Some of the most beautiful feathers in our collection are from the Blue and Gold McCaw's.

We have many of these stunning feathers in our collection. With the beautiful blue and yellow colours, they really shin in our feathers cabinet.


Peacock Feathers

Peacock feathers have to be the most recognizable feathers out of all the bird species.

With it's stunning blue, black, brown and green eye in the centre these feathers can be up to six feet long and make up about 60 percent of its body length. 

We have many of these stunning feathers in our collection. These really are one of the most beautiful birds.
