Today has been a super exciting day!

Along with working on other projects today we brought home a new very special specimen to That Little Museum and we have to say it's rather cute!

This beautiful Pygmy Marmoset Baby taxidermy specimen is the lasted added to the ever growing collection.

Displayed on a stick in the middle of a glass dome this small monkey baby has wrapped around the stick so you can see the full specimen.

This taxidermy but not as we know it as this has been freeze dried! But what does that mean you ask?

Freeze-dried taxidermy is a preservation method that involves eliminating the decaying process in living plant and animal tissuesThe process consists of low temperatures and vacuum applications to extract moisture from the specimen, leaving it unalteredTo freeze-dry taxidermy, you can place the item in a plastic bag and seal it tightly. Next, place the bag in the freezer or cooler, and surround it with dry ice. The dry ice will create a cold, dry environment, which will facilitate the freeze-drying process by causing the moisture in the taxidermy to sublimate.

Do you like our new specimen?
